Overview
 
The cost to rent the Group Pavilion is $250 per day (Revised January 2024). The facility is available from April 15 through October 15 of any given year.


The Group Pavilion has an open covered pavilion with picnic table seating for approximately 80-100 people. The total maximum occupancy for this facility is 300 people.  The facility also has a large open field suitable for baseball / softball, volleyball, horseshoes, etc. Renters of this facility must bring their own equipment (volleyball net, horseshoe stakes and shoes, etc.). There is running water at this facility; however, the restrooms are porta-johns.   


The permit fee is not refundable should this reservation be cancelled, unless the pavilion can be rented to another group for the same day.


Rules & Regulations
 
The city will provide portable porta potties and a dumpster.


Parking is allowed in designated areas only. No parking is allowed along the roadside and no parking is allowed on the blacktopped service road leading to the pavilion.


Boulders or stones may not be moved to allow vehicles on the grassed areas.


Consumption of beer and wine in moderation is permitted in the pavilion area ONLY.


Beverages are not to be dispensed in glass containers.


Due to liability concerns, no inflatable moonwalks, bounce houses, slides etc.


No pets allowed in the park.


The pavilion is open from 11:00 a.m. to sunset.


Music from musicians, DJs or recordings are permitted at a moderate level. Excessively loud music is prohibited.


For cooking purposes, charcoal only may be used in the barbecue pit. DO NOT pour water over coals to put out the fire.


You are responsible for reasonable cleanliness of the pavilion area. The city will provide trash receptacles.


All occupants must conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Those who do not abide by the rules and regulations will not be granted any future permits to use city facilities.


Neither tickets nor refreshments may be sold.


You may use the tables provided in the pavilion. Said tables are NOT TO BE REMOVED from the pavilion to be placed on the grass areas.


Posting of signs anywhere in the park is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.


The use of any type of fireworks in or around the pavilion, as well as in the park, is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.


The planting and/or removal of trees, shrubbery or other foliage anywhere in the park for any reason is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.


Available water is not to be used for recreational purposes.


The use of a staple gun to hang signs is prohibited.


Pressurized string cans, confetti, rice, or other scattering materials of ANY kind is prohibited.


Balloons, especially containing helium are strongly discouraged but if used, balloons may not be released and must be disposed of properly.


Per Norwich Fire Marshall Code, the maximum occupancy is 300 people.


Public Works and/or Police personnel have the right to enter and inspect the pavilion at any time to enforce all rules and regulations.



Directions to the Group Pavilion

From Route 2 East (Exit 13A off 395 North or Exit 13B from 395 South)


Follow Route 2 East all the way to the end. The Route 2 connector will end at a major intersection. At the traffic light proceed straight through the intersection.


Follow Route 169, Harland Road up the hill through the traffic light. You proceed straight until you see Hunters Road on your right. Turn right onto Hunters Road and take your first right onto Mohegan Park Road. Follow past trailer park and the Group Pavilion will be on your right.
